Korea to host international eSports tourney for people with disabilities; competitions in LOL, Starcraft 2, and FIFA Online 3

| July 25, 2014

One of the wonderful things about video games is that they’re accessible to almost everyone. They don’t require a lot of physical ability and there are lots of alternative control schemes out there for people who need to use something other than your basic mouse-and-keyboard setup. Many people with disabilities can still compete at the highest level in eSports, and to help showcase this, the International eSports Federation will be hosting an eSports tournament in Korea this fall specifically for people with disabilities.

The tournament will be held at a Korean women’s college beginning on October 8, and it will run for four days. It will include teams from ten different countries who will compete in League of Legends, Starcraft 2, and FIFA Online 3. IeSF hasn’t annouced which countries or teams are participating yet, but given that the FIFA Online is really only available in Asia, I’d expect a heavy focus on Asian players and teams.

  8. There’re a few misinformation. This tournament will be held by IeSA, the International e-Sports Federation for Differently Abled. This Federation is different to IeSF mentioned in the article. Also, the event’s schedule was changed from Oct to 8. Nov in Korea. (http://www.ie-sa.org)
