The partnership enables users to exchange LINE credits using Kreon’s physical vouchers. Kreon vouchers can be found in over 26,000 internet cafes in Indonesia. The vouchers are used for in-game purchases in online PC and web games published by Kreon under its online game platform, Gemscool. Some of the games it has published include Point Blank and Dragon Nest.
As this partnership is still in it’s very early stage, it is unknown how the conversion from Kreon’s vouchers to LINE coins will work. One thing we know for sure is that Kreon is working on the various billing options within Line for Kreon Mobile users with prepaid vouchers, according to Kreon Mobile’s Jin Hyoung Kil.
In Indonesia, LINE probably finds it hard to get its users to purchase credits online. With this partnership, LINE could possibly get folks to pay through offline means in cash, which is still the prefered form of payment in Indonesia. The goal is eventually to get Indonesian users to spend on game items and stickers. LINEs game platform currently boasts more than 20 games in Indonesia, including the popular LINE Pop and Pokopang.
