Phantasy Star Online 2 English service confirmed for May 2014

Phantasy Star Online 2 English service confirmed for May 2014

| May 15, 2014

Forget all the rumors you’ve heard of the Phantasy Star Online 2 English service launch being delayed. Asiasoft has just confirmed that the game’s servers will go live on May 29, 2014, for players in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Early access to the English service will begin on May 27, 2014.

What we know from the closed beta has not changed; only players who activated their keys for the closed beta will be given early access to the server.

Thai-speaking players will enjoy their own official server, which will have fully-localized in-game text. This Phantasy Star Online 2 Thai service will begin on May 22, 2014, with its early access scheduled to begin on May 20, 2014.

Over 100,000 players activated their respective keys for the Phantasy Star Online 2 closed beta a month back, and Asiasoft has announced via press release its projection of new Phantasy Star Online 2 registrants at launch: an additional 300,000 players.

Unfortunately, it’s likely that none of those additional players are going to be from outside the region. The English and Thai Phantasy Star Online 2 servers are equipped with an IP block, barring players based elsewhere in the English-speaking world from playing. I daresay you’ll be able to bypass it easily with a VPN connection, though.
