Tencent becomes exclusive China publisher for Candy Crush Saga

Tencent becomes exclusive China publisher for Candy Crush Saga

| April 17, 2014

The world’s favorite candy-based mobile game is finally coming to China. Well, finally coming to China in an official capacity, at least. Candy Crush Saga‘s titular candies have been sweetening up China’s smartphones for some time now, but yesterday Tencent announced a new agreement that makes it the exclusive publisher for Candy Crush Saga in the country.

As such, the company will be releasing an official Chinese version of the game—the official Chinese title is 《糖果传奇》—which will be available this summer. Users will be able to download it from Tencent’s various mobile platforms, including WeChat and QQ.

This is not the first time Tencent has partnered with a global mobile developer to bring an official version of a hit game to China. For example, the company has previously teamed up with PopCap on several occasions to release official Plants vs. Zombies content in China.
